Formed in 1989, Zurek and Company has produced video communications for Fortune 500 corporations in the Chicago area including Kraft Foods, McDonald’s Corporation, Crum & Forster, Scott Foresman and Company, just to name a few. Projects have consisted of point-of-sales marketing announcements, employee training and customer relations’ videos. Working with a core of talented freelance crew and a small staff, hundreds of programs have been developed from script to screen. Renamed in 1995 as Black Cat Productions, Inc. the company continued their relationships with corporate clients and began to offer video editing services to small and medium size advertising agencies.

In 2000, owner Sharon Zurek expanded her editing services to include independent feature films, documentaries and shorts.  Soon after, Black Cat Productions produced two one-hour dramas about HIV prevention for gay men of color, KEVIN'S ROOM and KEVIN'S ROOM 2 - TRUST, for the Chicago Department of Public Health.  Since then Sharon has produced, edited or post supervised numerous features, documentaries and short films. Over the years, pro bono services and volunteering for non-profit organizations such as Independent Feature Project, Chicago Filmmakers and Reeling: Chicago LGBT International Film Festival reinforces Black Cat Productions commitment to the Chicago film community.
